Abstract
This research examines the views and experiences of women in women-friendly cities and its purpose is to analyze the factors affecting the desirability of the urban space for this group. A women-friendly city means a suitable and desirable space for the social life of women in social, cultural, legal, physical and health dimensions. The current research is based on basic research and documentary sources, collecting information on women's views, and finally using analytical-descriptive method. The results show that key factors such as security, accessibility, variety of uses, attractiveness of space and proper treatment of women affect urban desirability. Creating women-friendly cities not only leads to increased security and accessibility in public spaces, but also helps to improve their quality of life and mental health. In recent years, attention has been paid to the role of women in sustainable development and urban planning. Various theories including social sustainability, spatial justice and environmental psychology emphasize the importance of designing public spaces considering the needs of women. These theories show that fair access to resources and a sense of security can lead to improving the quality of life and reducing social and gender inequalities. Studying examples of successful cities in this field, such as the cities of America, South Korea and India, shows that the existence of safe spaces and supportive policies significantly improves the quality of life of women. Also, the use of feminist theories as a theoretical framework emphasizes the need to pay attention to gender equality and eliminate structural inequalities.
