Abstract
Event-based tourism, as one of the new strategies in sustainable rural development, plays a key role in increasing awareness, supporting the local community, and preserving cultural identity. The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of residents' awareness of the benefits of event-based tourism and its social and cultural impacts on the support of local residents in the villages of Chorzq district. The research method is descriptive-analytical, and data were collected through a questionnaire whose reliability was confirmed using Cronbach's alpha coefficient (78%). The statistical population consisted of 320 residents, tourists, and regional officials who were randomly selected. The findings show that residents' awareness of the benefits of tourism and its social and cultural impacts plays an effective role in increasing their support for event-based tourism. Also, structural equation model analysis using SPSS and AMOS software confirms that social and cultural impacts have the greatest impact on the support of the local community. The results of this study particularly emphasize the need to strengthen public awareness and promote the social and cultural impacts of tourism, as these factors can contribute to the sustainable development and success of event-based tourism in rural areas. Finally, this study suggests that local planners and officials should strengthen education and community participation to facilitate better exploitation of the potential of event-based tourism in rural areas.
