Abstract
The overlap of industrial land use and urban settlements is considered one of the most important challenges and limitations to development in the relationship between city and industry. Based on this, the central question of the research is: To what extent has the establishment and location of production and industrial units around the metropolis of Tabriz complied with the regulations and standards for the establishment of production and industrial units set by the Environmental Organization? Using the descriptive-analytical method and based on spatial data regarding the status of industrial and production units for two 15-year periods (2007 and 2022) on one hand, and examining the trend of urban physical development for two 15-year periods (2007 and 2022) on the other hand, an evaluation was conducted on the status of industrial land use within the boundaries and outskirts of Tabriz city and its compliance with the regulations and standards for the establishment of production, industrial, and mining units approved by the Environmental Organization in 2018. The examination and analysis of the research findings on the status of the establishment of production and industrial units indicate that the placement of these units in the 500 and 1000-meter zones has the highest level of interference with the environmental regulations and standards. Given the increase in this interference over the examined period (2007-2022), a significant portion of the reason for this interference is due to the physical development of the city and the encroachment of urban land uses into existing industrial land uses. The status and appropriateness of the location of production and industrial units in the 4 zones of 1500, 2000, 2500, and above 2500 meters indicate a high level of desirability in their placement according to environmental regulations.
