Abstract
Abstract

Today, cities are the carriers of economic development of societies, and since they have human existence, in order to provide appropriate infrastructure for economic progress and growth, the welfare of cities is one of the challenges of development and combating poverty. By relying on strengthening multidimensional welfare indicators, issues such as economic and social inequalities in the city can be minimized. The aim of the present study is to geographically analyze the social and economic dimensions of poverty in urban areas (case study: Isfahan metropolis). This study is applied-theoretical in terms of purpose and descriptive-analytical in terms of method. The required information and data were collected through library and field methods. The fuzzy AHP method was used in this study. The main goal is to identify and prioritize the factors affecting poverty and to draw a pattern of its spatial distribution in the city. The results show that poverty in Isfahan is a multidimensional phenomenon that is affected by factors such as access to job opportunities, level of education, quality of housing, and access to infrastructure services. Spatial analysis of the data indicates that poverty in Isfahan has an unbalanced distribution pattern and is concentrated in certain geographic areas.
