Abstract
Overpopulation in cities caused by migration from rural settlements, which has accelerated since the beginning of the last century, have brought housing problems for the residents of these cities. Although local governments have developed various methods to solve this problem, urban sprawl has not been prevented. Undoubtedly, this means that the valuable agricultural land that feeds the city is included in the development plans. For this reason, rural areas suitable for agriculture on the outskirts of cities are decreasing day by day, and the ability of cities to feed themselves is weakening. At this stage, the city dwellers are facing the problem of "food security", meaning access to healthy and cheap food. The purpose of this research is to fight ecologically with the problems caused by rapid population growth and the emergence of irregular forms of urbanization and to ensure the integration of agriculture with the city in order to guarantee human health and the environment, food safety, urban and social beauty. In this research, internal and external studies For practical examples, the phenomenon of urban agriculture has been used. The findings show that throughout human history, agriculture has been a part of food production and social functions. However, according to most managers and urban planners, urban agriculture is not considered an important element of sustainable development in the urban planning process. Urban agriculture has not yet been integrated into the systematic components of cities. The results show that the stages of identification and support processes through public policy in Iran, like many countries, have become a new approach. While the phenomenon of urban agriculture has a long history in Asia, it can be seen that this is not conscious in Iran
