Abstract
Today, tourism is one of the most effective industries that, in addition to economic benefits, plays a fundamental role in many other fields. The present study was developed with the aim of providing solutions for rural tourism development with a sustainable tourism approach in Lorestan Province. 12 tourism target villages in the province were selected as the study villages. The combined SWOT-AHP model was used to provide basic strategies for the development of sustainable tourism in the province. The SWOT technique was used to identify the factors affecting the development of rural tourism and the AHP was used to prioritize the determined strategies. The results show that in the current conditions of sustainable rural tourism development and management in Lorestan province, the SO strategy (with a score of 0.275) is emphasized, and the strategies tend to be in a direction that can use the advantages, potentials, and opportunities that prevail in the environment outside the Lorestan region, as well as the strengths that exist within the study area, with optimal and efficient management, to move this spatial area towards sustainable development so that the potentials of this area can be used to improve the condition of the area and maximize its capacity and potential in an appropriate manner. The results of the TOPSIS model show that Gaikan village ranks 1st among the factors affecting the development of sustainable rural tourism in the study villages, Bisheh village ranks 2nd, Vanai village ranks 3rd, Robat Namaki village ranks 4th, and Dehkord village, Imamzadeh Ghasem, Kamandan, etc. are in the next ranks. The regression coefficient of the research variables showed that there is a significant relationship between the provision of tourism service facilities and rural tourism development, attracting private sector investors, and cultural-social interactions in rural tourism development in Lorestan province.
