Abstract
Cities, as places where people spend a significant amount of time, play an influential role in the lives of every citizen. Therefore, both functionally and visually, they are associated with various components. Environmental graphics in urban spaces constitute an inseparable part of the city's structure, appearing as guides or service providers. Pedestrian paths are among the urban spaces that have a more direct connection with people due to increased presence and pause of citizens. One such urban pedestrian path has developed within the historical context of Rasht, connecting four central streets of the city through this area. This study aims to investigate the impact of urban graphics on creating a sense of place attachment by examining urban graphic elements in the Municipality Pedestrian Zone of Rasht. The findings indicate that the extent to which urban graphic elements are utilized and the overall quality of urban graphics have a direct influence on fostering a sense of place attachment among citizens, encouraging them to revisit the urban space. This research employs a descriptive-analytical method using library resources, field observation, and qualitative analysis of collected data to examine the visual characteristics and sense of place in the specified pedestrian area of Rasht. Ultimately, it is concluded that only one of the studied sections within the examined area performs better in fostering a sense of urban place attachment through urban graphics.
