Abstract
A sense of belonging to a place is a manifestation of a person's sense of the space with which he has established emotional relationships. Residential satisfaction is an important factor in describing the quality of life of residents of a residential environment. If this type of satisfaction is not provided, the neighborhoods will include residents who will not have any sense of belonging and responsibility for the neighborhood in which they live. The purpose of this research is to investigate the relationship between the sense of belonging and the satisfaction index in urban neighborhoods and to compare the two and how to improve the satisfaction index and sense of belonging in two samples of neighborhoods in Yazd, one in the historical context and the other in the new context of the city. The present research is analytical-descriptive in nature and applied in purpose. The library-field method was used to collect information. The statistical population of the research is the Shesh Badgiri neighborhood and the University Town, and according to the latest statistics, their population is 9500 people, which was obtained by using the Cochran formula as a sample size of 370 people. To process the obtained data, SPSS and Excel statistical software and multiple regression statistical methods, one-way variance F test and Pearson correlation test were used. The results based on regression equations showed that the sense of belonging score for the center of the university campus neighborhood is 56.225 and for the Shesh Badgiri neighborhood is 48.104, which indicates that the sense of belonging is lower in the Shesh Badgiri neighborhood than in the university campus. In general, the results indicate that contrary to the general belief that the sense of belonging is higher in the old context.
