Abstract
The objective of the present article is to evaluate the social livability capacity of neighborhoods in the city of Bandar Mahshahr, and accordingly, the research method is analytical-survey-based and relies on documentary sources and questionnaires. The data and information also include indicators and criteria related to measuring the capability and capacity of social life in the neighborhoods of Bandar Mahshahr, such as place identity and sense of belonging, participation, security, dynamism and vitality, social diversity and variety, and increased density using the ELECTRE model. In line with the research objective of measuring, evaluating, and selecting the superior neighborhood, four neighborhoods from four urban fabrics were studied. The results also indicate the superiority of the old neighborhood over other neighborhoods, and this is attributed to the dynamism and vitality index as an outcome of close neighborly interactions, of course, place belonging, residents' participation in neighborhood-related affairs, and social diversity and variety in the structure of this neighborhood. In the subsequent rankings, the relatively new fabric neighborhood, the middle fabric neighborhood, and the new fabric neighborhood are placed, respectively, which demonstrates the lack of identity and lack of place belonging in these neighborhoods compared to the old fabric neighborhood.
