Abstract
The purpose of this research is to introduce and evaluate the ideas of utopia, dystopia, and ecodystopia. To give meaning to Utopia, first the roots of this genre, the foundation of the texts and its evolution are introduced. In this research, in the framework of discussions of totalitarianism and capitalism, it has been claimed that utopia is not only a literary genre, but also an attempt to build the future of society, a better life by criticizing the current human condition. The question "What is Utopia?" It emerged in line with the discussions and ideas that will be mentioned during the study. By using the novels We, Brave New World, 1984, Fahrenheit 451, which are among the classics of dystopian literature, it is tried to answer the question "Is modern society a kind of "dystopia"? Be answered. These works, which deal with social and political issues, have displayed important problems related to the time of their writing, and in them political discourse and technological criticism are at the forefront. But the topic of ecology, which is more important than other issues today, has been the focus of the writers' attention. Because the danger and threat caused by environmental destruction on the world leaves behind many problems. According to the works presented in this research, it can be said that the tradition of dystopia in world literature first proceeded with a political and technological critique. Then it deals with the topic of ecology. Baydar's novel titled "The Night of the Dogs", which was the first environmental dystopia in Turkish literature and was written with concern for environmental problems, draws the attention of mankind to an environmental disaster to increase the reader's awareness.
