Abstract
Today, the tourism industry is one of the most important economic activities in the world and has made a significant contribution to income generation and employment creation in countries that have developed appropriate programs to expand this industry. The present study was conducted with the aim of explaining and analyzing the dimensions of rural tourism development activities based on a gender perspective. The research method was a survey. The data collection tool was a questionnaire designed by the researcher and its validity and reliability were confirmed by experts and a pilot study in the village of Margoon, Fars province. The statistical population of the study was the local residents of seven villages (Sulqan, Kiga, Rendan, Keshar Ali, Keshar Safli, Imamzadeh Davood and Sangan) of the functions of the Sulqan district with a population of 2,216 people. The statistical sample of the study was determined as 300 people based on the Morgan and Tuckman table and the sampling method was random. Data analysis was performed using SPSS software. The results of the study showed that women and men in this region participate in tourism activities with different motivations. The most important motivations for men to participate in tourism activities were to escape from the monotonous living environment, contribute to the growth and development of the village, and increase the level of awareness and information. The most important motivations for women to participate in tourism activities were to earn more income for their families, create jobs, and earn more income for themselves.
