Abstract
Tourism is a vital industry closely linked to climate conditions, where favorable weather and a comprehensive understanding of climatic characteristics at destinations significantly influence tourist choices. This research focuses on evaluating and determining the tourism climate in Northwestern Iran, specifically in the provinces of East Azerbaijan, West Azerbaijan, and Ardabil. To achieve this, the Cooling Power Index (CPI) was employed, analyzing data from synoptic stations on a monthly basis. The primary objective of this study is to enable tourists to make informed decisions about the best times for travel and tourism activities based on climatic conditions. Furthermore, this research can assist planners in providing suitable infrastructure and amenities to enhance tourist experiences, considering the existing climatic circumstances. The findings indicate that the comfort climate period in Northwestern Iran begins in April and extends until mid-October. Among these months, May, June, July, August, and September have been identified as offering the best climatic conditions for tourism, making them the most suitable times for various recreational activities. This insight allows tourists to select their travel dates more effectively, ensuring a more enjoyable experience. Moreover, understanding the bioclimatic conditions can help improve the services provided within the tourism sector and contribute to better planning and resource allocation. By disseminating knowledge about climatic comfort, this research aims to promote a more sustainable and enjoyable tourism environment, ultimately leading to increased visitor satisfaction and greater economic benefits for the region. In conclusion, this study underscores the crucial role of climatic evaluations in enhancing tourism experiences and emphasizes the importance of adapting tourism strategies to align with climatic features. By utilizing bioclimatic indices like the CPI, stakeholders in the tourism industry can better cater to the needs of travelers and develop more effective operational strategies.
