Abstract
One of the major issues in military geography is military climatology, which examines the effects of climate on military affairs at different operational levels. All climatic elements of a region, such as temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and direction, cloudiness, field visibility, rain and snow, etc. affect military operations. Kurdestan and Ilam from the border provinces of our country have a special military climate. In this study, in order to assess and compare the conditions of the military climate of the research provinces, the first, climatic data was selected from seven synoptic stations that had a suitable statistical period (over 20 years) and using the 7 climatic variables; the military climate index was estimated for the studied provinces in different months. Then, the utility map of the military climate in different months of the year was obtained using ArcGIS and Surfer software and eventually zoned in the Google Earth environment.
