Determining of Entrepreneurial Characteristics, Supportive Factors and Attitude of Members of Knowledge-Based Companies in Kerman Science and Technology Park

Abstract

The main purpose of the study was to determine the factors affecting the attitude of members of knowledge-based companies in the Science and Technology Park of Kerman province towards the principles of Business Continuity Management. The study was done through a survey. The statistical population included all members of knowledge-based companies in Kerman Science and Technology Park (N =1630). (Agricultural and non-agricultural knowledge-based companies). The required data was collected by a questionnaire, which its validity was confirmed by a panel of experts. The reliability was also checked by conducting a pilot study outside the study sample and the Cronbach's alpha coefficients were calculated between 0.67 and 0.94. The results showed that the companies had a high entrepreneurial spirit so that members, responsibly, tend to team building activities. Findings also indicated the risk-taking of company members was at moderate level. The attitude of respondents were above average in terms of business continuity management principles. They also were in a good condition due to new product creation; but not as good in terms of product development process. The company members were moderately upward in terms of competitive intelligence. Based on the results, business environment as well as governmental supportive polisies were not very favorable for these companies. Finally, according to the results of multivariate regression, the five variables of competitive intelligence, business environment, new product creation, risk-taking and government policies, explained a total of 58% of the changes in the attitude of company members towards the principles of business continuity management.
