Information systems are useful tools that organizations use to increase their capabilities to improve better decision-making performance and more mechanized achievement. In general, development projects are each considered a new issue, so to carry out future projects. The knowledge created must be managed. Success in IT depends on the success of IT projects, and this success will not be achieved unless all aspects are taken into account. Accordingly, the present article was conducted to investigate the role of information technology on the success of development projects in the municipality of District 8. To assess the proposed model, a questionnaire consisting of 33 questions with three main constructs of information technology, knowledge management and project success was used. To evaluate the standardization of the research questionnaire, internal consistency with Cronbach's alpha test and construct validity with confirmatory factor analysis were used. After confirming the validity and reliability of the questionnaire, the conceptual model of the research was performed using Amos software. The results of fitting the model showed that the direct impact of information technology on the success of municipal development projects in District 8 is not significant. But its indirect effect is significant through knowledge management. In other words, the main hypothesis of the research on the impact of information technology on the success of municipal development projects in District 8 of Tehran was confirmed.
