Various geomorphological factors play an important role in directing and concentrating the flow of rainwater and floods The purpose of this research is to investigate the role of each of these factors in the intensity and extent of the flood that occurred on March 27-29, 2017 in Golestan province with the outputs of satellite images For this purpose, land use maps, vegetation cover index (NDVI), underground water reserves, rainfall on flood days, and the status of water areas before and after the flood were drawn in the Google Earth Engine system . The results indicated that the land use with a kappa coefficient of 96% and the accuracy rate of 97% showed that barren areas prevailed in the northern half of the province and had the largest area of about 12020 square kilometers. The lack of vegetation in these areas can create the conditions for soil erosion and will lead to floods in the event of heavy rains The state of underground water reserves showed that the amount of underground water reserves increased from the south to the north of the province and if the soil capacity is saturated during the rainy season, these areas are prone to floodsThe average amount of rainfall on flood days in the highlands and in the south of the province is 53 mm, and this factor has caused the strong flow of the upstream rivers and their ending in the low-altitude part, i.e. the northwest of the province. The flood situation also showed that after the flood in the northwest of the province, the area and volume of the water areas increased by 4.59 decibels and completely surrounded the urban and rural areas,.so that the flooded areas occupied an area of about 423 square kilometers of the surface of the province.
