Background and Objective: In light of recent social and cultural changes, the concept of wandering has gained significance as a social and spiritual act. This study aims to explore the various dimensions of wandering from the perspectives of Western philosophy and Iranian-Islamic wisdom. The objective is to analyze and compare these two viewpoints and uncover the deeper meanings of this practice in each cultural tradition.
Methodology: The research is based on the analysis of literary and philosophical texts. Using key sources from both Western and Iranian-Islamic traditions, the philosophical and spiritual dimensions of wandering were examined.
Findings: The results indicate that in Western philosophy, wandering is seen as an individualistic and aesthetic practice. Writers like Charles Baudelaire depict this concept by describing the details and beauty of urban life. In contrast, in Iranian-Islamic wisdom, wandering is regarded as a spiritual journey and a search for truth, as exemplified in the poetry of Rumi and other mystical texts.
Conclusion: In both Western and Iranian-Islamic traditions, wandering is not only seen as an individual activity but also as a cognitive and spiritual process. This practice provides an opportunity for deeper understanding of individual identity and the meaning of life, while also imbuing social and cultural interactions with significance.
