Abstract

This paper examines the role of agritourism in poverty reduction and sustainable development within rural communities. Agritourism presents significant potential for generating economic opportunities, preserving local culture, and strengthening social cohesion. However, challenges exist, including inadequate infrastructure, insufficient training, and competition from other tourism sectors.

The study reveals that success hinges on active community participation, comprehensive training programs, and effective collaboration among government, the private sector, and rural communities. Sustainable natural resource management and diversification of tourism activities are crucial to reduce seasonal dependence and increase year-round income generation.

The paper analyzes the economic, social, and environmental dimensions of agritourism, emphasizing the importance of considering potential negative impacts on local communities and the environment. Training programs for farmers and local residents in tourism management, marketing, and customer service are key to enhancing service quality and improving tourist experiences. Inter-sectoral collaboration is essential for improved coordination and project implementation. Diversification of activities, such as establishing eco-lodges and conducting craft workshops, can enhance regional appeal and stabilize income throughout the year. Ultimately, this paper contributes to informing policymakers, practitioners, and researchers on utilizing agritourism as a tool for improving rural livelihoods and promoting sustainable practices.
