In recent decades, the use of mixed-use development has become a significant paradigm in urban planning. In contemporary urban theories, mixed-use development is widely regarded as a strategy to address the challenges posed by traditional zoning practices. The aim of this study is to prioritize the indicators influencing the realization of mixed-use development and rank the proposed pedestrian areas and corridors of the University of Isfahan based on these indicators. This research is applied-developmental in purpose and descriptive-analytical and survey-based in nature. The statistical population includes experts from the technical office of the university (including departments for technical affairs and project supervision, university facilities, construction, renovation and improvement, architecture, document review, green spaces, and electrical systems). Ten experts were selected using the snowball sampling method. Data for the study were collected through library-documentary sources and field studies, and the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was used for data analysis.
The results indicate that the "sustainable income generation for the university" indicator holds the highest priority with a coefficient of 0.6, while the indicators "utilization of unused buildings for establishing knowledge-based associations" and "allocation of commercial-service use corridors around faculties" rank lowest with a coefficient of 0.05. Additionally, proposed area 2-4 ranks first concerning the studied indicators, while proposed area 2-3 ranks last. Finally, recommendations are provided to achieve mixed-use development based on the relevant indicators. Therefore, preparing any master or detailed plan without considering mixed-use development at the University of Isfahan would be ineffective.
