Social security in rural communities is a fundamental pillar of sustainable development. However, the rise in crimes in some rural settlements has highlighted the necessity of adopting innovative approaches to crime prevention. Community-based participation is considered one of the most effective strategies for crime control and reduction. This study aims to examine the relationship between social participation and crime reduction in the rural areas of Arsanjan County. This research adopts a quantitative approach and is based on a field survey. The statistical population consists of rural households in Arsanjan County. Using Cochran’s formula, 250 households were selected as the sample. Data were collected through a questionnaire and analyzed using Pearson correlation tests. The key research variables include crime perception patterns, temporal crime trends, and changes in crime types in relation to the level of social participation. The results indicated a significant impact of social participation on crime prevention and control. Notably, participatory beliefs showed the highest correlation with changes in crime perception patterns. Furthermore, increased cooperation with law enforcement agencies improved the understanding of temporal crime trends and enhanced control over various types of crimes . These findings align with previous studies conducted in other countries, emphasizing the critical role of social capital in crime reduction. This study highlights the importance of strengthening preventive policies based on cooperation between communities and law enforcement agencies, raising public awareness, and building trust. Developing educational programs and empowering local communities can play a significant role in reducing crime and enhancing social security in rural areas. Policymakers are recommended to focus on strategies that promote social interactions and support participatory structures in rural security initiatives.
