The emergence of government and state is a turning point in human history. The history of civilization and the evolution of human life is almost meaningless without paying attention to government and state. In fact, government and state are considered the most important invention and collective achievement of mankind, because all the civil and civilizational advances and achievements of man have been formed under government and state. Government and state are signs of civilization, progress, and express the course of development and evolution of human social and political life. Studying government and state in Iran and analyzing and comparing it with theories of the origin of government is an important issue that requires study and investigation. The main question of the research is what the origin of state in Iran was and can be explained based on which theory or theories. The present research was conducted using a descriptive and analytical method, and the data required for the research was collected in a library manner and using reliable sources. The results of the study show that theories of the origin of government are diverse and some of them are prescriptive and do not necessarily correspond to historical realities. Regarding the Iranian experience, some theories of the origin of the state based on the political atmosphere and the development of the state and government in Iran can partially explain the problem, while others are completely unable to do so. Among the various theories, Richard Hartshorne's centripetal and centrifugal theory and Jean Gottman's circulation and iconography theory in political geography have greater verifiability and explain ability than other theories about Iran.
