Tourism, as one of the engines of economic and social development, has the potential to generate positive environmental and cultural impacts; however, improper management may lead to adverse consequences. This study was conducted with the aim of analyzing the effects of tourism on the sustainable development of Aliabad‑e Kavir Village. The research employed a descriptive‑analytical and quantitative approach, and data were collected through a researcher‑designed questionnaire using a five‑point Likert scale from 42 local residents. Data analysis was performed in SPSS using one-sample t‑tests and independent t‑tests. The findings indicated that residents’ perceptions of tourism impacts in the economic, social, and environmental domains were below the average level, and these differences were statistically significant. In contrast, the perceived cultural and physical impacts of tourism were not statistically significant. Moreover, a comparison of the responses of men and women revealed no significant difference in their perceptions of this phenomenon. Based on these findings, recommendations are provided for local and national policymakers and planners to utilize tourism potentials for rural development through a sustainability‑focused approach.
