In recent years, the development of tourism—especially international tourism—has been recognized as one of the most important sources of income in global trade and a major factor in improving the economies of regions and countries, gaining increasing momentum. Among the advantages of this high-revenue and valuable industry is that tourism serves as a key driver for economic growth in developing countries and helps establish financial balance in the international economy between poorer and wealthier nations. It also transforms social life by creating diverse job opportunities and increasing income levels for broad segments of the population in both tourist-sending and tourist-receiving countries.Tourism is defined as the set of spatial movements of people and the activities resulting from them. Creativity refers to the emergence and production of new ideas and thoughts, while innovation is the practical implementation of those ideas. Creative industries are defined as knowledge-based activities that generate creativity. New forms of interaction and overlap between creative industries and tourism have continually emerged, bringing significant potential for the growth and development of demand for new products, experiences, and markets.This article, while defining creative industries and presenting the concept and history of the emergence of creative tourism in the historic city of Shiraz, examines the mutual impacts of creative industries and tourism. The aim is to achieve a better understanding of the necessity of linking tourism with creative sectors in order to develop effective policies in the city of Shiraz. The research methods used include library research, field studies, and questionnaires. Based on the collected data, certain shortcomings in the creative industry sector in Shiraz have been identified, and solutions are proposed to advance creative tourism.
