The present study aims to identify the main drivers affecting the development of the poultry industry in the rural areas of East Azerbaijan Province. In terms of purpose, this research is applied, and in terms of nature, it is descriptive–analytical. Data were collected through library studies and a researcher made questionnaire. The statistical population consisted of experts, specialists, and stakeholders in the agricultural and poultry sectors of the province. Using the snowball sampling method, 30 experts were selected as the sample. Data analysis was conducted using Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) and cross impact analysis with the MICMAC software. The results indicated that among the 30 identified factors, five factors were recognized as the key drivers of the future of the poultry industry in the province: optimal feeding levels, improvement of breed quality and genetics, reduction of production losses, health management and disease prevention, and innovation in feeding and breeding practices. These drivers have the greatest impact on production efficiency, poultry health, and the economic sustainability of poultry farms. Accordingly, focusing on optimizing feeding practices, genetic improvement, enhancing health management, and adopting modern technologies can play a significant role in increasing production, reducing costs, improving product quality, and strengthening food security in East Azerbaijan Province.
