This technology, learning algorithms, neural networks, and big data analytics, can identify patterns and improve system performance. A smart city is a city that manages its urban services more efficiently and sustainably by utilizing new technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, and advanced information systems. In such a city, data related to transportation, energy, traffic, security, and the environment are collected and analyzed in real-time.The role of artificial intelligence in a smart city is crucial, as this technology can predict traffic patterns, optimize energy consumption, and adjust public services according to citizens' needs by analyzing extensive urban data. It also has widespread applications in areas such as crisis management, air pollution control, and urban security. The purpose of the present research is to investigate the relationship between artificial intelligence and smart cities (case study: Tehran metropolis). This research is applied-theoretical in terms of objective and descriptive-analytical in terms of methodology. The necessary information and data were collected through library and field methods.The ISM (Interpretive Structural Modeling) method was used in this research. The present study, with the aim of explaining the structural relationships between the components of artificial intelligence and the dimensions of a smart city in Tehran metropolis, has been conducted using the Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) approach. In this study, key indicators were first identified through library studies and expert opinions, and then, using the ISM method, the hierarchical levels and cause-and-effect relationships between them were determined. The modeling results showed that information technology infrastructure and smart governance, as fundamental factors, have the greatest impact on other components, and their development lays the groundwork for the realization of various dimensions of a smart city in Tehran. The findings emphasize the importance of strategic planning and the integration of artificial intelligence-based technologies in urban management.
