In the field of modern urban management, the concept of a smart city seeks to optimize the performance of infrastructures and improve the quality of life of citizens by utilizing new technologies such as the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and big data analytics. In the meantime, sustainable maintenance of urban facilities is achieved by transitioning from traditional “repair after failure” methods to predictive and preventive maintenance methods. In a smart city, sensors installed on facilities (such as water, electricity, and waste management networks) send real-time data on the health status of equipment, which allows for continuous monitoring, reducing operating costs, preventing premature wear, and ensuring the continuity of urban services with minimal damage to the environment. The aim of the present study is to analyze the synergy between a smart city and sustainable maintenance of urban facilities (case study: Ahvaz metropolis). In this study, the fuzzy Delphi model was used. This research is applied-theoretical in terms of purpose and descriptive-analytical in terms of method. The required information and data were collected through library and field methods. The fuzzy Delphi method was used to identify and prioritize key factors in order to manage uncertainty in the opinions of experts and increase the accuracy of determining priorities. The research findings show that integrating smart technologies into maintenance processes can lead to optimizing resource consumption and enhancing the resilience of critical infrastructures in Ahvaz city in the face of environmental and operational challenges.
