Abstract
Today, urban tourism has become an important issue and activity that has caused extensive spatial changes in large cities. Cities are considered as tourist destinations due to the existence of living and welfare facilities, economic activities, trade, industry, culture, politics, health, communication, leisure and having historical and tourist attractions. The heavy dependence of cities in Iran on oil revenues has led to inadequate urban growth and encouraged consumerism. In addition, due to the fact that oil resources are finite and unreliable, it has disrupted the economic process of cities. One of the most important strategies to get rid of this challenge is to pay attention to other factors for development. Creativity is an essential element in the social, economic and cultural development of cities that is necessary to increase the commercial capacity of cities. This facilitates the exchange of knowledge and experiences between all walks of life and allows artists from all walks of life, especially in the field of culture, to acquire innovative skills and promote cultural productions. For this purpose, the present study was conducted to investigate the tourism development strategy of Nahavand city using the SWOT model. This research is applied-theoretical in terms of purpose and descriptive-analytical in terms of method. The required information and data are collected through library and field methods. The results of the research indicate the existence of tourism development capacities in Nahavand city, however, there are obstacles in this way.
