Therefore, the primary objective of the present study is to identify urban heat island hotspots in the city of Yasouj and to propose strategies for mitigating the consequences of this hazard. To achieve this objective, an applied analysis of the urban heat island phenomenon was conducted using a descriptive-explanatory approach. The 22 parameters influencing this phenomenon were identified; following the assignment of weights using the Grey Relational Model and its application to the area of Yasouj, a spatial analysis was conducted. The results indicate that the average temperature in the urban areas of Yasouj is higher than in the surrounding non-urban areas specifically, about 3.7 degrees Celsius higher. These conditions indicate the high potential of the city of Yasouj for the formation and intensification of urban heat islands. The most significant factors contributing to the formation of heat hotspots in the city of Yasouj are, in order: industrial centers (with a weight of 0.096) and traffic routes and nodes (with a weight of 0.091). In contrast, gardens, parks, rivers, and natural resources have a moderating and mitigating effect on the intensity of heat in the city of Yasouj. Furthermore, the spatial analysis of this hazard revealed that Districts 1 and 2 of Yasouj due to their central location, high population density, and the presence of commercial complexes and high-traffic corridors along with District 3 owing to the presence of industrial zones constitute the primary hotspots for the formation of the urban heat island effect. Furthermore, the pattern of urban heat island expansion in Yasouj follows a center-to-periphery model; following the formation of a thermal core in the city center and the city's expansion toward the north and east, these heat islands are also spreading into the surrounding areas.
